How do you deal with holidays? Are you able to get out long enough to
spend any time with family and friends?

Actually, the last 2 yrs. we've had Thanksgiving here at our house,
which is nice. I do go to my girlfriend's family's house for Christmas,
but it's kinda hard.

Sometimes, there is just the fact that you are alone. You prepare
yourself however you can. It is just that way.

I haven't spent any holidays with anyone since August 23, 2006 due to
this 'monster' (agoraphobia) who took over my body last year.

I am working very hard (therapy) to be able to spend at least a little
time on Christmas day with my niece and her family this year. She lives
about 16 miles from me and I'm hoping to drive to their home. That way
I can leave when I feel I need to.

But if I am not up to driving there, then I will invite them to come
visit me here. I just pray I will have the strength to be able to deal
with an in person visit.

I have not seen my niece for well over a year. I love her and her
family and miss them so much. :-(

We keep in touch via email which is the easiest way for me to
communicate at this time. I get nervous even on the phone.

I wish everyone the best and hope you will be able to spend some holiday
time with your Families.

If you can make it out to ur appointments, you can most certainly make
it to see ur niece. You'll be glad you did.

Blay,
My appointments are within blocks of where I live and I'm usually gone
less than an hour. That is how I talk myself into going. Knowing I
will be back home to my comfort zone soon.

I know Christmas will be much longer than an hour. I do want very much
to go and plan to. I will have another therapy session before Christmas
and I'm sure that will help me a lot.

I know I will be glad to see her once I get there. I am definitely
planning to take my own car so I can leave when I feel I need to. I
hope after this Christmas visit we will be getting together more often.
She is about the only family I have left. All of my immediate family
has passed away. :-(
